about

This song, given it's context within the album should be pretty self-explanatory. This is me at probably my lowest. This is a fictional account, a metaphor for what I was experiencing. The train would be my responsibilities, my commitment to this job which seemed to be ripping our relationship apart. There's no conceivable end to the struggle, I'll always have to work. All I can hope is to shift the paradigm and enter a sunnier metaphor, preferably with my bride still in tact.

lyrics

Sometimes it's like you're tied to the track/ and I can't stop this train/ it keeps on running me over/ again and again/ I can hear your heartbeat in the chug of the steam/ I see dark clouds overhead/ and I pray it's a dream/ because this ominous track has no beginning or end/ it's a continuous loop around the earth's circumference/ this goddamned terrible track carries the tundra express/ its hell-forged engine won't stop until it's torn us to shreds/ it's got no switch-man and it don't need any brakes/ got two men shovelling coal almost as fast as it takes/ and though I thrash and I flail and I dig in my heels/ no effort I ever make will stop the thundering steel/ it's got me under its weight, it's got me under its wheels/ and the farther I'm dragged the farther from you I feel/ it's bearing down on your heart it's slicing deep through my veins/ I'd trade the rest of my life to put a stop to this train.

about

Weekday Yardsale Vancouver, British Columbia

Weekday Yardsale is what happens when Jordan Pond is assaulted by a few moments of quiet solitude. It's pretty all over the place, but so are Jordan's tastes. He likes some things and dislikes others but sees no point in drawing lines in the sand. He also tries to keep it as simple and raw as possible, because he feels music is just better that way. ... more
