about

This song is sort of a mixed medium thing. I used to do a lot of photography and I always liked shooting my industrial workplaces. There's a lot of interesting shapes and strange contrasts in these environments. I was looking at all the strange items in the scrap yard as the snow melted away and there was this old steel structure that for whatever reason looked like an old frontier church. I guess I got to thinking about how everything I have in this material world, everything I've been able to give is the result of my hard work in these grimey places. It's just all come together as long as I just kept my head down and kept pushing forward. So this song is like the positive outlook, moving forward song at the end of the struggle. I know if we just keep making it up as we go along, then all of these struggles will have significance as they fall into place like paving stones on life's long road.

lyrics

let's make it up as we go along/ let's sing a song/ it might not work but it won't be wrong/ it's where we belong/ a rusted hull and a rotting floor/ this vessel's a beast/ don't hesitate c'mon jump aboard/ so what if it leaks?/ the twisted spire is charred by fire/ there's broken glass and it's doused in gas/ but when the sunlight hits it just right/ there's glory in the gloom/ in dirt the flowers bloom/ a congregation of roughened rock faces/ frozen in time/ pipe organ piles that stretch for miles/ dutifully chime/ a wire spool pulpit with a picture window/ framing behind/ a holy place for whoevers determined/ give it a try.

about

Weekday Yardsale Vancouver, British Columbia

Weekday Yardsale is what happens when Jordan Pond is assaulted by a few moments of quiet solitude. It's pretty all over the place, but so are Jordan's tastes. He likes some things and dislikes others but sees no point in drawing lines in the sand. He also tries to keep it as simple and raw as possible, because he feels music is just better that way. ... more
