about

My job can be very physical. We often move countless hundreds of pieces of scaffold in a few short hours by forming a "chain". Each of us passing scaffold components on to the next guy in order to move large piles from point A to point B (i.e. the bottom of the scaffold to the top, or vice versa). This task can be a little mind-numbing, and at some point to keep our spirits up, we began freestyle rapping in the style of old white guys. (i.e. "my name is jordan and I came to say: I move this scaffold to the break of day") Unsurprisingly this ended up working it's way into my thoughts... the result is a rap song adressed to my future wife, decsribing the labourious conditions I was enduring and the financial motivation which drove me.

lyrics

i'm workin in a diamond mine/cos I gotta get mine/ I'll be gone a long long time/ just working in this diamond mine/ working in a diamond mine/ cos I gotta get mine/ diamond cash and diamond shine/ diamonds robbing all my time/ slaving in a diamond mine for an extra $1.09/ diamond dirt and diamond grime/ living like i'm doing time/ holed up in a diamond mine/ just to earn another dime/ it's unsafe to go outside/ and i'm afraid i'll lose my mind/ working in a diamond mine/ wishin for a warmer clime/ in theis hell of rock and ice/ i can't win without sacrifice/ i'd trade my eyes to see some pine/ or any tree of any kind/ i look and look but all i find/ is that i'm going snow blind/ working in a diamond mine/ don't want to leave you behind/ but you know i'm yours, your mine/ and when i'm home we'll wine and dine/ our life will be set up real fine/ diamond cash and diamond shine/ our dreams will come true in die time/ from working in this diamond mine.

about

Weekday Yardsale Vancouver, British Columbia

Weekday Yardsale is what happens when Jordan Pond is assaulted by a few moments of quiet solitude. It's pretty all over the place, but so are Jordan's tastes. He likes some things and dislikes others but sees no point in drawing lines in the sand. He also tries to keep it as simple and raw as possible, because he feels music is just better that way. ... more
